A Checklist for Springtime Boat Trailer Preparation

Keeping the trailer in tip-top shape
Regular care and maintenance is as important for your trailer as it is for your boat. Here are the steps:

  • A thorough cleaning
  • Lubing
  • Examine all the parts of your trailer for wear-and-tear

These steps will help increase your trailer's useful life, helps protect your boat hull, and reduces the chance of a breakdown on the road or a serious accident. See our page on boat trailer maintenance for more information.

If you live in the southern climates, you are probably a year-round boater. For folks up north, it's time to come out of hibernation and get back on the water.

You know the drill
At the beginning of the boating season, the routine goes like this. You:

  • Clean the boat
  • Tune the motor
  • Check the safety equipment
  • Gather the fishing or ski gear

Don't forget the trailer!
At that point, are you ready to go?

Oh, that's right. There's an often neglected but essential piece of equipment that helps get the boat to the water - the trailer!
